SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake is a 3D platforming adventure for PlayStation 5. SpongeBob and Patrick use magical Mermaid’s Tears, causing portals to open across Bikini Bottom. As a result, their friends and landmarks disappear into strange Wishworlds.
Players travel through seven different Wishworlds with unique themes and settings. These include Wild West Jellyfish Fields and Halloween Rock Bottom. Moreover, each world offers its own challenges and locations to explore.
The game combines platforming, exploration, and action. SpongeBob can unlock classic and new skills, including the Fishhook Swing and Karate Kick. Therefore, players can use different abilities while moving through each world.
SpongeBob can also wear more than 30 different costumes. These include familiar outfits such as SnailBob and SpongeGar. In addition, the PS5 version adds the King Doubloon and Plush Gary costumes.
Balloon-Patrick joins SpongeBob throughout the adventure. Players can also meet familiar characters from the series, voiced by their original actors. Furthermore, the game features a new soundtrack and songs from the SpongeBob series.
The PS5 version includes a photo mode with 19 filters. It also supports DualSense controller features, including controller audio and adaptive triggers for selected actions.
The game supports one player. It provides English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish voice options on PS5. Moreover, it offers a colorful adventure designed around exploration, platforming, and SpongeBob’s familiar characters.
