The Sony PXW-Z90 is a professional compact XDCAM camcorder for 4K and HD video recording. It uses a 1.0-type stacked Exmor RS CMOS sensor with approximately 14.2MP.
The camcorder records QFHD 4K at 30p and 25p. It also supports HD recording at up to 120fps in compatible modes. Furthermore, it supports XAVC, AVCHD, and MPEG2 HD recording formats.
For autofocus, the PXW-Z90 uses Fast Hybrid AF. It provides 273 phase-detection AF points that cover about 84% of the image area. In addition, the camera supports face detection and lock-on autofocus.

The camcorder supports two SD memory card slots. It also provides 3G-SDI, HDMI, USB, XLR audio inputs, and a multi-interface shoe. In addition, NFC and Wi-Fi support wireless functions.
The camcorder measures approximately 121.0 × 104.0 × 274.5mm. Meanwhile, its body weighs approximately 1.4kg without the battery or accessories.
