The Sony a7R VI is a full-frame mirrorless camera with a 66.8MP fully stacked Exmor RS CMOS sensor. It uses the BIONZ XR2 processor with an integrated AI processing unit. Moreover, it uses Sony E-mount lenses.
The camera captures full-resolution images at up to 30fps with AF and AE tracking. It also performs up to 60 AF/AE calculations per second. Therefore, it can track fast-moving subjects while maintaining high image detail.
The autofocus system provides up to 759 phase-detection points across approximately 94% of the image area. In addition, AI-based recognition supports people, animals, birds, insects, cars, trains, and airplanes.
The camera provides 5-axis optical image stabilization. Sony rates the system at up to 8.5 stops at the center and 7.0 stops at the peripheral area. Furthermore, compatible lenses can improve stabilization performance.
For video, the a7R VI records 8K at up to 30p. It also supports 4K recording at up to 120p with 10-bit 4:2:2 recording. In addition, 4K 60p recording is available without cropping.
The camera features a 3.2-inch 2.1-million-dot multi-angle touchscreen. It also uses a 9.44-million-dot OLED electronic viewfinder. Moreover, the viewfinder provides a wide DCI-P3-equivalent color gamut.
The a7R VI supports CFexpress Type A and SD memory cards. It also provides two USB Type-C ports, HDMI, microphone, headphone, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth connectivity. Furthermore, Wi-Fi 6 support enables faster wireless data transfer.
The camera uses the NP-SA100 rechargeable battery. Its body weighs approximately 713g with the battery and memory card. Meanwhile, the body-only weight is approximately 622g.
