NINJA GAIDEN: Ragebound is a side-scrolling action game for PlayStation 5. It combines classic NINJA GAIDEN gameplay with modern combat and movement.
The story follows Kenji Mozu, a young ninja from Hayabusa Village. While Ryu Hayabusa travels to America, the barrier between the human and demon worlds breaks. Therefore, Kenji must face the resulting threat.
The game focuses on fast hack-and-slash combat and precise platforming. Players can chain attacks, evasions, and movement actions while fighting through each stage. Moreover, the controls are designed to be easy to learn but difficult to master.
Kenji can also fight alongside Kumori, the Black Spider Ninja. Their abilities can combine during combat to create stronger attacks. In addition, Kumori provides unique Spider Weapons and special techniques.
The game uses detailed modern pixel art inspired by the classic NINJA GAIDEN series. Enemies, environments, and combat animations receive a high level of visual detail. As a result, the game keeps a retro style while using modern pixel art techniques.
Players can collect Golden Scarabs to unlock upgrades, talismans, and techniques. Furthermore, Kumori’s abilities add different combat options and exploration possibilities.
