Focal Length: 45mm Maximum Aperture: f/1.2 Autofocus: Gear-Type STM Maximum Magnification: 0.13x Weight: Approximately 346g
The Canon RF 45mm f/1.2 STM is a standard prime lens for Canon EOS R-series cameras. It uses a 45mm focal length and a bright f/1.2 maximum aperture. Canon designed it for a natural perspective close to human vision.
The lens uses 9 elements in 7 groups. It includes one PMo aspherical element and Canon’s Super Spectra Coating. In addition, the f/1.2 aperture provides control over depth of field and low-light shooting.
Autofocus uses a gear-type STM motor with a magnetic detection system. Therefore, the lens provides smooth and precise autofocus while keeping the design compact. Full-time manual focusing is also available.
The lens focuses as close as 0.45m and reaches 0.13x maximum magnification. Moreover, the nine-blade aperture helps create a smooth, rounded background blur.
A dedicated control ring provides direct camera control. The lens also includes separate focus and control rings, plus an AF/MF switch. Furthermore, the barrel keeps a fixed length during operation.
The lens accepts 67mm filters and measures approximately 78 × 75mm. Meanwhile, it weighs approximately 346g. Canon does not include optical image stabilization or dust- and weather-resistant construction.
